A few snaps from the Scottish Traditional Boat Festival that takes place at Portsoy, NE Scotland every year in late June / early July.
This set from 2006. Sadly the organisers departed from the norm of choosing a weekend where high tide was middayish so by the time we had driven over from the West coast most of the action was over for the day. What was still to be seen could be described as spirited!
- A fluky wind and ebbing tide caused a few difficulties entering port
- High angle shot shows the lines of ‘Felicity John’ well
- Topher Dawson’s own design and build ‘Janet’
- ‘Janet’ again
- Looking over the Old Harbour to the New Harbour
- Centre boat is Ken Lowndes’ ‘Jig’, home built bargain basement – but what a performer.
- The Old harbour, Roddy Hill’s ‘Grey Goose’ centre shot.
- ‘Felicity John’ and ‘Florence Oliver’, both from the hand of Adrian Morgan
- The Old Harbour, the yellow boat is a Walt Simmons Christmas Wherry – gorgeous
