Polka was the start of the whole boatbuilding obsession – my neighbour Mike, believing that I was handy with tools, asked if I could get another season or two out of an ancient Mirror dinghy which he had on loan for his two young daughters. I did and I got hooked – thanks a bundle Mike, it was all your fault 
After a few seasons the girls went off to Uni and Polka wasn’t getting the use she deserved, reclaimed she was then passed onto another young sailor and is now frequently sailed and usually appears at the Traditional Boat Festival held each year at Portsoy
